THE thought of food is going to power a local councillor around the Meedies when he gets on his bike next weekend.

Determined to back the charities that have been ensuring the elderly and vulnerable have been getting daily meals during lockdown, Alex Campbell will cycle round the country park six times.

The Kelty and Cowdenbeath councillor has been impressed with the efforts of the volunteers in Kelty, Cowdenbeath, Lochgelly and Benarty and will start his 30-miles challenge at Lochore Meadows on Saturday May 23 at 1.30pm.

Said Alex: "The efforts of the volunteers in ensuring that senior citizens and those who are at high risk are getting a meal every day have been really impressive.

"I want to do something to raise some funds for them and I have decide to do six laps around the Meedies a week on Saturday!

"I have set a target of £500 and am setting up a crowdfunding page and hopefully can raise some money for the groups who have done such superb work."

Before even getting onto the saddle, he's already smashed his fundraising total with £960 already pledged on his crowdfunding page.
