THE homegrown food project in Kelty is feeding more and more vulnerable people.

Andrea Hughes and her sister Frances wanted to help just a couple of neighbours who were self-isolating but the gesture has extended to helping dozens of people.

It's supported and run by an army of volunteers who are cooking and delivering home-cooked food.

It's also backed by a huge amount of people in the village who have donated to help the operation!

And after working a night shift as a security officer Andrea heads out each morning to help with deliveries - now that's dedication!

"We just want to help the elderly and frail out during the pandemic," Andrea said.

"I can tell you the number of people making baked goods is amazing!

"There's mainly four but we also have other volunteers helping us out when we need it such as the Kelty Community Let's Get Together Group.

"Everybody in the village has just been superb and it doesn't cost us a penny because we get so many donations!"

The project delivers a main meal at lunchtime five days a week to 80 or so people.

The donations have coming in thick and fast and one young lad, Brody Muir, donated £50 after completing a sponsored pogo stick challenge

Andrea added: "It's been all go!

"But the pandemic is not going to last forever so we help while we can.

"It was just meant to be for a couple of neighbours but it just took off.

"It's just been brilliant!

"Those who getting help are absolutely delighted and they say they're dreading when it stops because the meals are so delicious!"
