Virus will leave communities lacking colour

It will come as big disappointment to the many local greening and environment groups who take part in the competition each year.

It sees some fantastic work done by the volunteers in bringing a fresh look to their communities.

Groups in Crossgates, Cowdenbeath, Kelty, Cardenden, Benarty and Lochgelly have striven to improve their performances each year and the work always starts in the autumn.

But the lockdown which has been in place for the best part of two months made the decision inevitable.

Said a disappointed member of Cowdenbeath Environment Group: "The town will be a dull place this summer with nothing going on. But life comes first".

The High Street takes on a different look each summer through the group's floral decorations.
