STAFF and patients at the Intensive Care Ward at the Victoria Hospital, in Kirkcaldy,  have received a treat from Scotland fans who got over over the disappointment of not seeing their favourites take on Israel in a key Euro qualification tie by raising funds for the fight against coronavirus.

The Crossgates Tartan Army Club buckled down to the task and have been able to supply the staff at the ICU, who have had a busy time, with items they espeically asked for.

Club Secretary Paul Laidlaw said: "We have a proud history, in the Crossgates Tartan Army, of making charitable donations in the village.

"The club was all geared up for the play off semi-final against Israel, at Hampden, in March and we were booked for the final away match against Norway or Serbia, but Covid-9 put a stop to our plans.

"All credit to Cameron Walker for coming up with the idea of running the fundraisers and organising the equipment for the ICU ward at Victoria Hospital.

"Two of our members' partners are actually working in nursing and hygiene control, at the ICU ward, so the fundraising became even more significant to the CTA.

"In total we raised £620 and we wanted to ensure that NHS staff directly benefited so we asked the ICU ward what they needed.

"The nurses at the ICU ward said they always need the best tea and coffee, and constantly cleaning their hands takes its toll, so the best hand moisturiser would be nice".

So armed with the money raised the CTA have purchased an Amazon Fire 7 tablet for patients; Two Tassimo Coffee Machines; Plenty of the best beverages; and 100 of the best hand creams for the best caring hands!

Addd Paul: "The CTA is looking forward to the day when we can start to plan or legendary away trips and that social sunrise is on the horizon for the club.

"We would like to thank everyone who contributed to the NHS campaign, and we know that nursing staff and patients will benefit directly with a wee bit of luxury, courtesy of CTA!"
