A LOCHGELLY family got up to a very unpleasant find on Sunday morning.

Zoe Johnston, who lives in The Beeches, was taking her dog out when she found a dead chicken in her garden.

She was even more stunned when she realised that eggs had been smashed over their car and parts of the outside walls of the house.

Said Zoe: "It was not what you would expect to find on a Sunday morning but I soon found out that homes in the Sir James Black Gait and The Braes had also received the same treatment."

Cowdenbeath Community Police Team are investigating the theft and killing of numerous chickens from the nearby Easter Cartmore Farm, late on Saturday night.

The deceased chickens were then left in gardens nearby.

Added Zoe: "It really has been a horrible act by these people who appear to have carried out the raid at the farm about midnight.

"One of the people involved was caught on a Ring Door bell mechanism as he went to place one of the dead chickens at a house door and hopefully that will help the police find whoever it was.

"The break-in to the farm was bad enough but then the way that 18 chickens were just simply killed is horrific. That is animal cruelty at its worst.

"One of our neighbours said that they heard a noise of youngsters going past their home heading towards the golf course."

One of the Community team said: "We have a positive line of enquiry but are appealing for any witnesses to contact 101, quote ref 865 of 03/05".
