THE superb fundraising artistry of Lochore girl Maci Fotheringham made the virtual Scottish Parliament yesterday.

Cowdenbeath MSP Annabelle Ewing, had the first question during Thursday's Member's Virtual Question Time and praised the efforts of local girl Maci, and all of the community efforts within her constituency, as she asked the Cabinet Secretary for Communities, Aileen Campbell, to provide an update on the support being made available to the third sector in Fife.

Maci created Rainbow of Hope illustrations and sold these to raise funds for the Benarty Food Bank.

Speaking afterwards, Ms Ewing said: “The work being done by individuals and third sector organisations in the Cowdenbeath constituency is absolutely fantastic during this difficult time.

"I wanted to take the opportunity to praise that work and was delighted to highlight, as an example, the efforts of 11 year-old Maci Fotheringham, from Lochore, who has raised more than £1,000 for the Benarty Food Bank with her Rainbow of Hope illustrations.

“I was pleased that the Cabinet Secretary took the time to congratulate Maci on her efforts which I, like Aileen Campbell, find quite inspirational".

Ms Ewing added: "I also welcome the focus that was put on the efforts of Fife Voluntary Action, who are helping the Scottish Government assess bids for the Wellbeing Fund, which is part of a package of £350 million-worth of measures supporting communities in the efforts to tackle the coronavirus pandemic and protect and assist vulnerable people.”

Aileen Campbell said that Maci's creations were really well done and the young lady was typical of the inspirational work done by so many people in Fife during the pandemic.
