FIREFIGHTERS were called to a blaze in woodland near Cardenden on Monday night.

Three fire appliances were sent to the scene after the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were alerted shortly after 7.30pm.

The flames, which could be seen from the A92, took fire crews around three hours to put out.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 7.38pm on Monday, April 27 to reports of a grass fire in woodlands, off the A92, near Cardenden in Fife. 

"Operations Control mobilised three appliances to the scene, where crews worked to extinguish the fire before leaving the area around 10.45pm."

A spokesperson for ​Police Scotland said that there is no criminal investigation taking place.
