THE work of unsung village heroes was highlighted this week.

Over the past few weeks sisters Frances and Andrea Hughes, along with Susan Forrester, have been instrumental in ensuring up to 50 vulnerable people in Kelty have been getting meals during the lockdown due to the coronavirus.

Their efforts have been ensuring senior citizens have been getting a cooked meal.

Frances has been busy doing all the cooking, and Andrea and Susan have been the delivery people, along with other friends.

Impressed Kelty resident, Sharon Munro, said this week: "I feel Andrea and Frances Hughes and Susan Forrester, who between them have been preparing and delivering meals to our elderly and vulnerable people in the village, should get some deserved praise.

"Andrea and Frances are no longer youngsters themselves, but there they are out there helping our most vulnerable and needy!

"Their work has also seen people from all over place donating food and cleaning stuff etc, they have been inspired by the sisters and Susan, it is brilliant to see."

Local councillor Alex Campbell, who has been sponsoring the petrol for the deliveries, echoed Sharon's thoughts: "What a team they make.

"The incredible work they have put in has been fantastic and it has inspired the community to back them."
