THIS week's Down Memory Lane collection comes from an exile from Lochgelly who has had these photos for a long time and has always meant to send them for inclusion in our looking back feature.

However, Hugh Cockburn, was only persuaded to do it after seeing an item on our website. He said: "I like browsing through your website and I came across in item about the earth rehabilitation work at the Meedies a few weeks back and felt your readers would like these.

"I left to go to Birmingham just as the park was opening but I can remember the big bings that used to dominate the road to Ballingry.

"The pictures show one of the huge scrapers which really created the country park out of the pit spoil, and a view of what the teams charged with getting rid of the bings faced.

"Another is of a cooling tower getting demolished and a shot of regraded spoil being made ready to become grass. It was indeed a huge task, but it was a real success as can be seen today."
