A CROSSGATES dog groomer has raised more than £500 for Benarty View Care Home, in Kelty.

Pamela Shankland, 36, was inspired to help raise funds for the facility that cares for her gran, Janet Guthrie.

Although closed due to lockdown, customers from Dogg Styled were still happy to help Pamela and donated to be in with the chance to win a full groom for their beloved pet.

Janet, from Cowdenbeath, has stayed at Benarty Care home for just over a year.

Pamela said: "Although I'm shut I'm trying to keep in contact with my customers.

"There were 50 numbers and three were picked out to get a free groom.

"We raised over £500 thanks to some other businesses in the area who also chipped in."

This is not the first time Pamela has raised cash for the care home.

Last year, she also donated around £270, thanks again to generous help from her customers.

"The money will be used for arts and crafts to help with activities at the moment," Pamela said.

"My gran has dementia so she had to go into care last year.

"My Di visits her everyday and because of the lockdown and no family being able to visit, that was my reason behind the fundraising.

"The home have provided family with a Facebook page and we sent her photos to let her know we're here. My Di is also sending her letters.

"The staff are also looking to see if the could get some reborn dolls with the funds to help those with my dementia."
