A BENARTY woman is concerned that too many people using Lochore Meadows Country Park are failing to observe the Government guidelines in the battle against coronavirus.

The woman posted her concerns on the Benarty Matters Facebook page and received a lot of support for her views.

Chloe Brown posted: "I took the dog out for a walk down Lochore Meadows on Monday and am not really sure if people are understanding the rules of isolation.

"We’ve been told not to meet up with people from other households and only allowed a certain amount of exercise per day. Yet there were young girls meeting up with their friends, people sitting socialising at benches, and about eight or nine teenage boys using the cycle area on the black path and cycling off together.

"Not to mention the people meeting up with their kids so they can have a chit chat while their kids play at the park!"

Chloe added: "Literally if you want to talk to your friends while on a walk use FaceTime or call them, people need to understand that the more they defy the orders given by the UK Government the longer we are going to stay in this lockdown and more people are going to fall ill with the virus! As someone who works for the NHS listen to what is being told and do your part!

"Do you think we all love staying at home not being able to see family and friends? Cause I sure don’t.

"Maybe you should think about the most vulnerable people, kids who haven’t seen their grandparents or family, kids missing out on school, grandparents who are alone, people with mental health issues that hate being confined within four walls and waking up to the same routine every day; before stepping out the door to meet up with friends!

"Your putting your safety and your family’s safety at risk, you shouldn’t wait for someone in your family to catch the virus to take note. Stay at home!"

Ann Wilson commented: "Its distancing all over Fife. They meet up in groups, party in gardens with music and drink."

And Annabelle Thomson said: "I wholeheartedly agree.I just can't believe the amount of people who are NOT adhering to the social distancing "advice".Do they not get that NHS staff have died treating people with Covid-19 and those ignoring the rules are putting family and friends etc, at grave risk".

However, Thomas Torrance observed: "Personally I think it's a bit harsh, some people are struggling more than others (with the lockdown) with very little help available ."
