CARE home residents have been queuing up to hear Kelty youngster Daniel Stennett play the pipes.

Daniel has been visiting several care homes in the area to raise spirits and bring smiles to faces.

The 15-year-old is a member of the Kelty and Blairadam Pipe Band and his mum, Pauline, is incredibly proud of his gesture.

She told the Times: "He thought it would be a nice idea to go up to Benarty Care Home (last Thursday) to give them a bit of a lift as they're stuck inside and unable to see any of their relatives.

"He played at Benarty first and, after he did that, he was then asked to go to the sheltered housing complex in Lumphinnans Care Village.

"He went up the next day and the residents were delighted to see and hear him – he is a good wee player".

Pauline added: "All the residents were queuing up and then sitting outside just so they could hear him.

"One of the residents is a piper himself, so he was delighted.

"Daniel loves playing his pipes and practises all the time and he's more than happy to visit the care homes and make their day."

The St Columba's High School pupil also played at Alexander and Craigie House, in Crossgates, on Saturday, as well as making his gran's day with a visit.

Pauline said: "He went to visit his grandma in Kinghorn, who he hasn't been able to see for weeks, and played the pipes for her.

"He stood at her front door with his kilt on and he had her in tears."
