COWDENBEATH MSP Annabelle Ewing has congratulated Kelty Hearts FC on being named champions of the Scottish Lowland Football League, following a decision of the League’s Board to end this year’s league competition with immediate effect.

Speaking on Tuesday Ms Ewing said: “I want to send my ‘hearty’ congratulations to Barry Ferguson and his team on being named Champions of Scottish football’s Lowland League.

“I know the team would have preferred to have seen the league decided after a full complement of games, but these are not normal times and I am delighted that Kelty Hearts have been declared Champions".

Ms Ewing added: “While it is still unclear what this will mean in terms of what league the team might be playing in next season, there is no doubt that they are worthy champions and I wish them continued success in the future.”

Hearts await a ruling from the SPFL to find out if they will be able to play Brora Rangers in the next stage of the Pyramid Play-offs.
