PEOPLE in the Cardenden area needing a prescription delivered can have it done free of charge from the Boots Pharmacy in Cardenden.

Boots Pharmacies are waiving their standard £5 charge for anyone that needs a delivery during the coronavirus pandemic.

Boots are also looking at ways to ensure that those patients who currently pay for this service and may have paid in advance are able to now receive this service for free at this time.

Cardenden councillor, Rosemary Liewald, chair of the Fife Health and Social Care Partnership sought and obtained assurances in relation to the delivery charge following an inquiry from a constituent and said: “All those who need their prescriptions delivered at this time must not have financial barriers placed in their way during this public health emergency and I am glad that Boots have removed their charges, given the support that they and other pharmacies are receiving from the Scottish Government".

The member for Lochgelly Benarty and Cardenden added: "I would also like to add my praise and gratitude to the outstanding pharmacy staff throughout our region of Fife, who I know are working tirelessly to process the many prescriptions which come their way from our GP Surgeries on a daily basis.

"The extra hours which are being worked by front line workers, and the additional delivery drivers who have come on board, deserve our heartfelt thanks during this time".
