THE Benarty Fundraisers will be gifting the Crosshill Centre based Food Bank some very much needed food aid very soon and they are also in the process of organising a street collection of what are very much needed supplies.

A lot of the walk-in donations have started to dry-up, at the Benarty Food Bank very quickly due to the lockdown, so the Fundraisers are hoping to fill this gap by doing street collections in the Benarty and Lochgelly areas that the Crosshill based facility covers.

The Fundraisers James Fotheringham said this week: "This will be done hopefully by the use of local companies' pick-ups or trailers with a minimum of volunteers going round ringing a bell, or the sound of a horn, much like the old Rag & Bone man did years ago, for the people that can remember those days.

"Adrian Hewson, from The Sign Company, in Kirkcaldy, was very generous to donate us four signs to go on the vehicles or trailers that will be doing a street collection in the coming weeks, to help the Food Bank keep up with demand if possible."

The sort of items that people can donate to Benarty Foodbank, include tinned food, meat, fish, vegetables, fruit, custard/rice pudding, tomatoes, soup, potatoes, cooking sauces, coffee, UHT Milk, sugar, diluting juice, jam, cereal, super noodles/pot noodles/pasta and sauce packets, pasta or rice

Any donation will be welcomed.

Added James: "Just by the reduction in the number of people being out and about through the lockdown the people at the food bank are seeing less donations so the plan is to go around the streets with our lorry and encourage people to make small contributions that could all add up to a lot for the volunteers at the Crosshill Centre.

"We will be going around the streets of Benarty's four villages, and also Lochgelly, as it is part of the Benarty Food Bank's sphere of influence.

"We hope to be able to announce when we will be out and about soon."
