A Dunfermline piper's tribute to carers working through the coronavirus pandemic has been viewed nearly 10,000 times in less than 24 hours.

Dean Saunders, 28, was just one of the thousands of pipers across the land that belted out 'Scotland the brave' in a salute to key workers on Thursday night.

After last week's 'Clap for Carers' mobilised the nation to its doorstep, pipers were urged by the National Piping Centre to add a Scottish twist.

Dean, originally from Dunfermline but lives in Cowdenbeath, said: "It was quite busy around our street last week but it was special to see so people come out to listen.

"It's a way of showing our appreciation to all the workers who are saving lives.

"It's fantastic that people are so supportive and a lot of the comments I've received are so inspiring."

Dean, who has his own business entertaining people with his musical talent, has also taken a big hit due to the lockdown.

"It's difficult at the moment," he said.

"I've lost a lot of my income and I've had to try and rearrange has many events as I can.

"But for some weddings, I've had to give them a refund as I'm already booked up.

"I've tried to come up with something different though for the next couple of months.

"So I've introduced Skype gigs to try and bring some cheer in people's homes!

"But it was great to give some credit to those who are working to help us right now."
