A CARE home which looks after about 50 people has an outbreak of coronavirus.

It is understood there are now four people who have tested positive for Covid-19 at Lindridge in Laburnum Avenue, Hove.

This comes as Oaklands Nursing Home, also in Hove, battles its own outbreak with about three quarters of the residents and seven staff showing symptoms.

Lindridge provides personal and nursing care for people who have needs relating to their mobility and long term medical conditions.

Some residents have dementia.

The home is run by the Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, which has been approached for comment.

It is understood it has struggled to find proper protective equipment.

Peter Kyle, MP for Hove and Portslade, said: “When it comes to keeping care home residents safe from Covid-19 there is only one strategy that works and that’s stopping them getting it in the first place.

“Every carer, every cleaner and every resident should be tested.

“The lack of testing and equipment is rapidly becoming a national scandal that’s leading to the avoidable loss of life of our most vulnerable neighbours and loved ones.”
