A CAR driver ignored road closure signs on the A92 near Lochgelly and continued along a stretch of road which had been shut down following a serious accident.

Muhammed Ceesay, 47, of Drummore Road, Glasgow, has now admitted the offence.

He submitted a guilty plea by letter at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

Ceesay admitted that on January 6, on the A92 near to the Lochgelly junction, he failed to comply with a police ‘Road closed’ sign.

He then failed to slow down as he approached uniformed officers who were directing traffic on to the slip road.

He drove over solid white line chevron markings and around a marked police vehicle situated at the point of closure and then accelerated and continued to drive on to the main carriageway towards the scene of a serious collision.

Sheriff Alastair Brown called for reports and sentence was deferred until June 17. A temporary driving ban was imposed until then.
