AFTER receiving some good news last week, the aqua gym users at Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre suffered another blow when the facility closed due to the coronavirus situation.

After being concerned that the continued maintenance problems with their equipment at the aqua gym sessions at the Leisure Centre, they received a much needed boost when the Fife Leisure Trust announced that a programme of refurbishment of the equipment was set to take place, with parts being sourced for the various items used by the enthusiastic customers.

The Trust also said that their ultimate aim was to invest in new equipment.

The campaign group who were concerned that they could lose the aqua gym, were delighted with the positive response from the Trust on the equipment, were then given another blow by the news of the closure of all leisure centres through the coronavirus situation.

Said one of the regular users of the aqua gym, Cowdenbeath woman Marilyn Stokes: "It was much better news about the equipment set to be upgraded then comes the closure due to the virus.

"So meantime we cannot get in to the pool and at present it is hard to know when the coronavirus situation is going to move on."
