BALLINGRY couple Barbara and Jim Brown were the special guests at the Benarty Companions Club at its last meeting before the enforced lay-off due to the coronavirus situation.
The couple, from Malcolm Street, were celebrating their diamond wedding with friends who have been regulars at the Companions Club run in the Benarty Community Centre.
They had a great day and took along with them the card they received from Her Majesty The Queen congratulating them on their marriage milestone.
The Companions Club, organised by Benarty Events Club, has proved to be a real success as a mechanism to tackle problems of isolation and it has been a real disappointment to the enthusiastic group who use the facility, that it has temporarily closed due to the coronavirus.
