Fife Sports and Leisure Trust is closing all of its facilities to the general public.

The closures will take effect as of 6pm today (Wednesday) and will be in place until Government advice states that it is appropriate to re-open facilities to the public.

The decision is in keeping with the Government’s announcement regarding protocols to be followed in relation to the spread and containment of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), ‘to avoid pubs, clubs and other social venues’.

Jeph Hamilton, interim chief executive for Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, said: “To slow the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) the general public are being advised to stay at home as much as possible and avoid unnecessary social contact.

“The health and safety of our visitors and staff is our number one priority.

"We have taken the difficult decision to close all our facilities to the public temporarily and will continually monitor the advice from Government so that we are in a good position to re-open as quickly as possible when appropriate.”

The trust will communicate directly with Leisure Active members and Learn to Swim participants with all membership and swimming class fees being frozen automatically.

Fitness class and health and wellbeing participants, as well as clubs with regular bookings, will also be notified of the closure.

Customers are being encouraged to visit the trust website and follow social media posts for updates.
