IN yet another dramatic finish St Joseph's, Kelty, emerged as winners of Cowdenbeath Rotary Club's 2020 Primary School Quiz.

In 2019 Lochgelly South won by the narrowest of margins through their last round performance, and the story was the same on Wednesday for St Joseph's.

The team of Rowan McAllister, Austin Anderson, Calum Wilson and Caolan McGuire, went into the last eight questions just ahead of Crossgates and Lochgelly West, and they went on to get the points needed to total 61, finishing two and five ahead of their respective challengers.

The St Joseph's team now will take part in the Fife final on Thursday May 26, at Donibristle Primary School, in Dalgety Bay.

The teacher in charge of the St Joseph's team, Erica Anderson, said: "They were real stars and did brilliantly in what was a fantastically close competition."

Quizmaster Neil Westgarth was delighted with the way the 12 teams taking part answered the questions, which were delivered in eight rounds of eight.

"The way the teams tackle what are sometimes questions that have adults thinking closely about what the right answer might be, is strikingly good and I am sure St Joseph's will give a good account of themselves at the Fife final", he said.
