THE generosity of the local business community helped make one of the Central Fife Crime Prevention Panel's main events in 2019 a big success.

The Panel's Elderly Forum has been a key part of its calendar for more than 25 years and the 2019 event, in November, saw the biggest ever turn out.

Over 120 senior citizens, from Crossgates in the west, through to Cardenden in the east, were at Lochgelly Town Hall to enjoy a bite to eat, get some crime prevention and community safety advice, and be entertained by pupils from local schools.

Last Wednesday's Panel meeting heard that a big part of the day is the free raffle which saw upwards of 100 prizes distributed thanks to the donations from local shops and businesses.

Vice chair, Anne Lockhart, reported that she had ensured that every business which had contributed had been warmly thanked on behalf of the panel.

Chairman David Roy said: "We are very lucky to have the support of a great many businesses who make it possible to present so many prizes at the Forum, and we warmly thank them all, and also the 4Winds Trust for their backing."
