THE numbers of people participating in the Drop In events held at Auchterderran Church Hall has continued to grow over the two years of the project and has been hailed as a great success by Fife MSP Alex Rowley who visited this week's Tuesday session and chatted with local people over soup and sandwiches.

Mr Rowley said: “This project is run by volunteers from Auchterderran and St Ninians Churches and Cllr Linda Erskine and I was struck by the mixed ages of both the volunteers and the residents who go along.

"One young man told me how much he enjoyed coming along and being able to mix with lots of other people from the Cardenden and Kinglassie area. "Another lady told me how she looked forward to every Tuesday to get out for a bit and meet with other people. "I just think it is great that people are giving up their time to make this happen and I would like to thank all the volunteers who were keen for me to stress that everyone is very welcome”.

Cllr Linda Erskine also thanks everyone involved and said: “The aim is to bring the community together and help reduce social isolation. "There is a standing invitation to everyone in the community to pop-in, enjoy some soup, a sandwich and the great home made baking every Tuesday between 11am and 1pm”.
