MOTORISTS are advised that the £100,000 drainage investigations on the M90 between Junction 4 Kelty and 8 are now underway after adverse weather conditions brought in by Storm Ciara and Storm Dennis prevented the work from going ahead as planned last week.

The project is now underway will take place over two weeks using 24-hour working. The traffic management will remain the same as originally planned, with 24-hour lane closures and a 50mph speed restriction in place for safety. The lane closures will be implemented in approximately 2km sections over the 12km scheme extents.

No work took place on Friday nor today Saturday or will occur on Sunday February 23, with work continuing from Monday as before. All work is expected to be completed by Friday February 28.

Andy Thompson, BEAR Scotland’s North East Representative, said: “Unfortunately adverse weather conditions brought in by Storm Ciara and Storm Dennis last week resulted in us moving our drainage investigations for sections of the M90 back by a week, with work now underway.

“We’ve planned the project to take place using 24-hour working, with all work removed on Friday and over the weekend to keep any disruption to a minimum. Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safety as possible.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential drainage investigations on the M90, and encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”
