A SHORT bedtime tale of two mice getting married at Dunfermline Abbey has been transformed into a song.

Donald McArthur, Cowdenbeath, was looking after his grandsons when he came up with an adorable story and jingle about the 'Twa Meecies' tying the knot.

Callum and Ryan's dad, Grant, from Hill of Beath, then took over as the singer wrote lyrics and a short melody.

He told the Press: "My dad's always made up silly stories for the kids. They really love them.

"He created this one with my youngest son, Callum, a few years ago.

"I had some spare time to kill so I thought I'd turn the little jingle they had for it into a proper song."

The story grew arms, legs and tails as Grant asked family friend and artist Nikki Sneddon to create some sketches of the newly-wed mice at their Dunfermline wedding.

The drawings and lyrics now work in tandem to tell the story of the mice in a 'music video' that is now available on YouTube.

Grant, 39, said: "I reckon half the views will be from my dad!

"He loves the song, and so do the kids.

"You can hear Callum and Ryan and a few of their friends in the song giggling as we recorded it at home.

"It's a jovial story and the drawings from Nikki really bring it to life. It's a humourous touch.

"I think all of us enjoyed putting this together.

"It started off as just a bedtime story but it's become so much more."
