CROSSGATES Gala will take place on US Independence Day in 2020, Saturday July4.

But the Crossgates Events Committee need more members to join them to ensure that this year’s event is as good as those of previous years.

It will again be almost be a Civic Week in the village, with the days leading up to gala day having plans for five-aside football, a pet show and 1k and 5k runs.

For the Events Committee the Gala is a huge event on their calendar but they are active all the year around with the Christmas Fayre a big day on the run up to the festive season, and as the year unfolds there is usually a Sportsman’s Brunch, a ‘Gin Tasting’ and other special events that get the community involved.

The Gala needs about £10,000 to cover the costs each year and small team from the local community volunteer their services to both raise these funds through holding events, seeking donations, and fundraisers such as a street collection and bag packing.

Local businesses also get involved and are very supportive.

With the Gala only now a few months away the Events Committee is seeking more support with both fundraising, organising the events before the Gala and during then Gala Week itself.

Said Gala secretary Ross Bennet: “Crossgates has a great Gala Week when everyone comes together and has a fantastic time.

“To keep the Gala at the standard everyone rightly now has come to expect, we do, however, need more assistance.

“If you think you could assist in any way please get in touch through the ‘Crossgates Events Committee’ Facebook Page.

“All help would be greatly appreciated.”

So if you feel you can help, details can be found, and contact made, through the Gala Facebook Page ‘Crossgates Events Committee.
