A COWDENBEATH man stole a card machine from an hotel in Rosyth and had no idea why he did it.

Robert Napier, 46, of Blamey Crescent, Cowdenbeath, previously admitted that on June 3 at Hillpark Hotel, Heath Road, Rosyth, he stole a chip and pin machine and a key card reader.

The Court heard that not been engaging with his restriction of liberty order.

Defence solicitor, Roshni Joshi, said her client could not recall why this had happened.

"He is struggling with substance abuse but his circumstances are starting to improve," she said.

"There have been two occasions when he was hospitalised for overdoses and that is when he self-referred for help.

"He may have taken some time to do it but he appears to have taken some steps and he fully realises he has a problem."

The case was continued for consideration and for the appropriate reports to be prepared and sentenced was deferred, until Wednesday March 11.
