A LOCHGELLY man who was caught speeding blamed it on his dog falling ill.

Wayne Clark, 40, of Stewart Crescent, appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on February 14, 2019, in Main Street, Crosshill; and Station Road and Bank Street, Lochgelly, he drove a car carelessly and at speeds of up to 45mph in a 30mph zone.

“My dog was dehydrated,” Clark told police after committing the offence.

Defence solicitor Stephen Morrison said: “He’d taken his 10-year-old Labrador out and the dog had collapsed. He was in a state of panic.

“He was trying to get home in haste and was then going to get advice from a vet.”

Sheriff James MacDonald fined Clark £200 and endorsed his licence with five penalty points.
