POLICE were called to a Cowdenbeath family fall-out which saw a teenager kicking her mum’s door in a dispute about takeaway food.

Fern Martin had been put out of the house after a rammy about her mum eating the starter of the meal order.

Martin, 19, of Dalbeath Crescent, Cowdenbeath, appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

She admitted that on September 13, at Hillcrest, Cowdenbeath, she damaged property by kicking a door.

Depute fiscal Katherine Fraser said: “The accused and a friend had been out celebrating her father’s birthday in various public houses in Cowdenbeath.

“Her mother was at home, also consuming alcohol, when she received a text message from the accused asking her to order a takeaway meal for them returning home.”

When Martin and her friend returned home, she spotted there was a starter missing from the order.

When it turned out that her mother had eaten it, an argument broke out and Martin was eventually put out with the door being locked.

She then started shouting, banging and kicking on the door, which was vibrating as a result, the depute added.

Police were called at around 1am and found that a door panel was broken and lying on the ground.

Defence solicitor Stephen Morrison said: “She was under the influence of alcohol, there’s no doubt about that. Her mother had also been drinking. She was living with her mother at the time, just for a few days.

“It appears that her mother had consumed parts of the carry-out that were not earmarked for her and umbrage was taken. They’ve made up now.”

Sheriff James MacDonald deferred sentenced until April 29 for Martin to be of good behaviour.
