A SEX predator who filmed himself raping his lover as she slept has been jailed for four-and-a-half years.

Kevin Kinnell preyed on the woman at a flat in Cowdenbeath last May.

The 33-year-old was only interrupted when an alarm from a mobile phone went off.

A relative of the woman later became aware of the sick footage before Kinnell was arrested.

Kinnell returned to the High Court in Glasgow today (Monday) having earlier pleaded guilty to a rape charge.

Lord Mulholland told him: “You raped her while she was asleep. I have seen the footage – your conduct was disgraceful and disturbing.

“It ended up in the hands of her family, which must have been humiliating, but I do not hold you responsible for that.”

The judge said the jail term would have been six years but for the guilty plea.

The clip of the attack was played during the hearing last month.

The woman can be seen virtually naked lying on a bed.

Prosecutor Stephen McCloy said: "She is visibly in a deep sleep and does not move."

Kinnell, of Lochgelly, was also seen carrying out other indecent acts. He later spoke to someone as to what had happened.

Mr McCloy said: "He admitted having videoed himself having sex while she was asleep."

Police got hold of the footage after others became aware of it.

Stephen O'Rourke QC, defending, said: “He has struggled to comes to term with this and is greatly ashamed at his conduct.

“He feels like his life is worthless.”
