A LOCAL butchers were highly successful at the World Scotch Pie Championships.

Hugh Black & Sons, which operates out of the Raith Centre in Cowdenbeath and in Bank Street, Lochgelly, won several awards at the recent World Scotch Pie Championships, held in the Westerwood Hotel, Cumbernauld, and presented by TV personality Carol Smillie.

Hugh Black Butchers won the Diamond Award (Category Winner) in the Hot Savoury Category for their Premium Chicken and Ham Hough Pie, as well as a Silver award for their Stew Pie in the same category.

The Chicken and Ham Hough Pie went on to win the coveted MacLean's Cup. This award is presented for the most outstanding speciality savoury product, chosen from all the other category winners by the head judge, Ian Nelson.
