COWDENBEATH striker David Cox has been successful with his appeal against a red card given to him by referee Scott Lambie at Cove on Saturday.

The appeal was heard this morning with Cox maintaining he showed no violent conduct in the incident which involved the crowd.

Delighted Cowden secretary David Allan said: "On Saturday at Cove, David Cox was sent off for 'Violent Conduct'.

"Cowdenbeath FC believed this to be an injustice. As such an appeal was submitted to the SFA which was heard by a Panel this morning at 8.30am. "We are pleased to confirm that David’s red card was rescinded at that meeting as no offence of Violent Conduct had occurred.

"It was replaced with a yellow card for ‘showing a lack of respect for the game’."

It means that the front man will be eligible for Saturday's home match with Brechin City as the Blues bid to maintain their excellent home record.
