ASSAULTING his then partner then breaching bail conditions and contacting her led to a Court appearance for Lochgelly man Darren Leslie.

Leslie, 46, of Grainger Street, had previously admitted that on November 12, 2018, at Grainger Street, he assaulted his then partner by pushing her on the body, causing her to fall to the ground to her injury.

Having been granted bail with the condition not to approach or contact the woman, he failed to comply when he approached and spoke to her and sent her a text message on November 19 and May 1 last year.

Solicitor, Rosni Joshi, said her client had been out of trouble since 2013 prior to the assault.

"He understands what happened was wrong and has shown remorse to me in that regard," she said. "He has engaged voluntarily with alcohol counselling services."

Sheriff Alastair Brown placed Leslie on a community payback order with supervision for one year.

"The whole impression I am getting is you don't really understand how to behave and that is the problem which to quite an extent is due to having far too much to drink regularly," he said.

"That is not intended to be sympathetic because other people have to put up with your bad behaviour. In particular you assaulted this woman and pushed her and you must not do that."
