AS the campaign mounts to see a mining artefacts provision at Lochore Meadows Country Park a fundraising event is being held this coming Sunday, January 19.

An afternoon of music is being held at the Red Goth, Lochore, featuring Sairbanes and Friends.

Great supporters of the Save the Cage project, Sairbanes, will be joined by George Machray, The Hershaws and Kinrick with everything starting at 2pm. Entry fee is £5 and that will include hot food.

Save the Cage's Robert Chalmers said that he is hoping that 2020 will be a big year for the project.

He said: "We are delighted to have been able to organise an afternoon of good music provided by some of the finest musicians in the Kingdom as a fundraiser.

"Things are moving on positively for Save the Cage after discussions with the park management and people from the National Mining Museum of Scotland.

"In regards to having mining artefacts displayed in the Meedies we will be meeting again with the National Mining Museum Scotland soon to discuss what items will be available for display".

The plan is to have the mining heritage display under the Mary Colliery Pithead at the park.
