LOCHORE'S Bayne's the Bakers have made a significant donation to the organisation which promotes the food banks at Cowdenbeath and Benarty.
The Loanhead Avenue organisation posted on their Facebook page: "We are delighted to be able to continue to support the The Trussell Trust having donated £24,670 to date through carrier bag sales".
The Trussell Trust supports more than 1,200 food bank centres in the UK to provide a minimum of three days’ nutritionally-balanced emergency food to people who have been referred in crisis, as well as support to help people resolve the crises they face, and their Dunfermline base ensures that both the Fountain and Crosshill Centre facilities are able to meet the increasing demand for support.
Indeed, between April 2018 and March 2019, food banks in their network provided a record 1.6 million food supplies to people in crisis UK wide, a 19% increase on the previous year. Both the Cowdenbeath and Benarty food banks have seen numbers using them increase.
