THIS year's Santa Benarty Street Visits were carried out over four nights in the run up to Christmas and the Santa's sleigh was welcomed in every part of the community.

Santa is normally out just the three nights but another night was added due to bad stormy weather slowing things down.

Santa Benarty is sponsored by OBB Builders who pay for all the sweeties he gives out to the children.

Montrose Rope & Sail Company made Santa a new water proof cover and it was part financed through the Benarty Wind Farm Small Grants Fund.

This year the Elfs found it very hard going, with so much bad weather, but they stuck it out along with their mums and dads that came out every night to help.

The Elfs were Miya and Katie McLean, Kaylee Currie, Katie McMaihin, Hallie Burnside, Poppy and Lacey Buchanan, Millie Jack, Lucy and Amy Courts, Caleb Mackie and Maci Fotheringham.

Oh and two stray dogs long with two 'stray' American Nationals completed the visiting party!

Santa Benarty's James Fotheringham said: "Local tradesmen and volunteers also help with the maintenance and running of the sleigh so it’s manned and ready for the nights out on the roads of Benarty.

"So a big thanks to Andy at Glenfield Auto Centre, Robert Ford Electrical, Kev McLean, Gordon Mackie, Derek Davidson, Stewart Colqhoun, Stevie Nardone and Kev Fernie.

"We also have many other volunteers that come along on the various nights who help with the distribution and safety on each night".

He added: "We received a great welcome from everyone that came to the sleigh to see Santa Benarty.

"We even managed to visit a few of the local businesses in the area and made two special visits to Benore Care Centre at Benarty where a lot of residents were so surprised to see Santa Benarty and the Elfs visiting them".
