AS Christmas week got underway big hearted slimmers donated more than 400 items to Benarty Food Bank

The Lochore Slimming Magazine Club, run by Nicola Tillier, decided at the start of December that they wanted to help people who are less fortunate than themselves.

Said Nicola: “We have three groups who meet on a Thursday and two on a Friday, at Lochore Institute, and they all wanted to play their part at a time of year which sees even more pressure put on the resources of the food bank run at the Crosshill Centre.

“They all did a brilliant job and it all added up to 20 full bags of non-perishable food items and personal hygiene materials.

“As the meetings went by the pile of items grew and grew and it was brilliant to be able to make such a substantial contribution at this time of the year”.

Added Nicola: “It really is a bit scary that in 2019 we need to have food banks in the Cowdenbeath-Lochgelly area but it really is brilliant the way that people support the two of them all the year round.

“The generosity of our members has been brilliant and I cannot thank them enough.”

Over her five classes Nicola has, at this time of the year, just under 200 slimmers on her books but come the New Year she is expecting that to climb to over 240, as people seek to lose the pounds they have gained over the Christmas and New Year period.

She has classes at 3.30pm, 5.30PM nd 7.30pm on a Thursday and 9.30am and 11.30am on a Friday, all at Lochore Institute.
