IT felt as if Christmas was well and truly on its way at the Lochgelly Centre on as Lochgelly High School pupils, parents, staff and friends enjoyed a feast of festive music at the LHS Christmas Concer, organised by Mandy Miller, Principal Teacher of Music.

The school's talented pupils entertained the audience with a diverse and exciting range of musical items, showing the hard work and commitment they have put in over the last few months with the Music Department and their proud Instrumental Instructors.

The fabulous and award winning Pipe Band opened the evening with a medley of Christmas carols to get everyone in a joyful mood, and the Wind Band, Brass Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble and Strings continued this theme with a wide variety of music, from the traditional “Pachelbel’s Canon” to the more contemporary “Jingle Bell Boogie”!

And no Christmas concert is complete without the wonderful sound of the LHS Steel Band, who played a selection of Christmas classics such as “Jingle Bell Rock” and “Stop the Cavalry” and brought some sunshine to a dark winter night.

Two shining stars of the evening were our two soloists: Courtney Bryson who sang “Listen to My Heart” beautifully; and Erin Robertson who brought a little festive sparkle with “White Christmas”.

All two performances were superb and reminded the audience of what talented pupils there are at Lochgelly High School.

Finally, the LHS celebration of music was brought to a rousing close with a magnificent rendition of “Highland Cathedral” by the Pipe Band together with many of the musicians who had taken part in the concert.
