LOCHORE Meadows Country Park was packed with Santas on Sunday!

The organisers of 2018 Loch Leven Santa Run decided that there were so many people wanting to take part they should host the 2019 event at the Meedies and the Lochore Santa Festival created a spectacular sight on Sunday morning.

Said organiser Rory Young: "Due to the increased capacity of the event, and a third race being added, we had to move location to Lochore Meadows.

"The event fully sold out with the oldest entrant being 72 and the youngest being 0!

"The closest person taking part was from Lochore with the furthest away being from New Zealand, so it was a great day."

The 2019 Santa Run saw three event distances to choose from – 7.5km, 5km and 2.5km.

The 7.5K started at 10.00am with the 5k and 2.5K following shortly after. All entrants received a Santa suit upon registration at the Meadows to ensure that entrants reflected the Christmas theme.

The 2.5K loop took in part of the loch then returned back through the trees to the start/finish line. The 5K loop took in the whole loch with the 7.5K loop doing the 2.5K followed by the 5 in a continuous circuit.

Added Rory: "To get 500 Santas entering was brilliant and I'm led to believe it is one of the biggest events of its type in this part of Scotland.

"The races themselves were a huge success over all three distances. Seeing 500 Santas striding out through the park tracks was fantastic!

"Everyone said they found it a great experience and we will be holding it again next year for sure."
