A LOCAL business is among the finalists in the 2020 Scottish Rural Awards.

The Scottish Rural Awards are the ultimate benchmark of success in Scotland’s countryside, highlighting the enterprise, skill and innovation of those who live and work in rural areas.

Fife’s farming businesses dominate the shortlist for the Best Farming Award and many other award categories at the Scottish Rural Awards 2020.

The award-winning Buffalo Farm, outside Cardenden, is shortlisted for two awards, the Best Farming Business Award and the Rural Business Diversification Award.

Steve Mitchell, who runs the Buffalo Farm, has just completed his ambition to raise enough funding to produce Buffalo Mozzarella.

Meanwhile Strathtyrum Estate and Balgove Larder are shortlisted for both the Rural Business Diversification Award and the Best Rural Employer.

Fife excelled in the food and drinks categories with Foraging Fortnight shortlisted for the Best Rural Tourism Initiative Award, Scotland the Bread shortlisted for the Best Scottish Artisan Food Award, Loch Leven’s Larder shortlisted for the Best Rural Employer and Kingsbarns Distillery shortlisted for the Best Scottish Artisan Drink Award.

Bowhouse on Balcaskie Estate is also in the shortlist for the Rural Business Diversification Award while Downfield Farm and Kingdom Farming are shortlisted for the Best Farming Business Award.

Growers Garden are finalists for the Best Rural Innovation Award and 2G Events run by Patrick Gilmour are up for the Best Rural Employer Award.
