A GROUP of local history gurus received a pre-Christmas boost with the donation of an interesting mining artefact
The Benarty Heritage Preservation Group were at the Garvock House Hotel for their pre-Christmas lunch when the members received a surprise visit from Ballingry Councillor Mary Lockhart who delivered, along with her Christmas greetings card, a lovely piece of mining memorabilia which she had obtained for the group.
The Group's mining history expert, Chris Sparling was delighted to receive the item on behalf of his colleagues and said: "The piece is a mounted model brass pit headgear featuring a miner and a filled coal tub, a lovely item and we thank Mary for this very kind gesture".
The BHPG are now on their seasonal break but will resume their regular Tuesday meeting in the Benarty Community Centre on Tuesday January 14.
