ROBIN Hood came to Lochgelly Centre and left the Sheriff of Nottingham with plenty to think about!

And the audiences of Cowdenbeath Community Theatre's 2019 production loved every minute of it.

Famed for their promotion of young talent in the Central Fife area the cast of CCT's shows are normally predominantly in their teens but the 2019 show had a few more senior members involved in Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood.

The production team of producer/director Lynsey Coombe; choreographer Melissa Davidson and musical director Calum Paterson were pleased with the mix cast and the way their charges performed in the show.

The company, formed in 2000, was delighted with the audiences and their reaction to their hilarious production.

Said CCT's Alex Keatings: "The Cowdenbeath Community Theatre was set up to promote young talent in the Cowdenbeath-Lochgelly area and often we have had a very young cast with people taking part having to be over 10.

"This show attracted a lot more adult performers to take part so we had a really good mix on stage and it was brilliant to see the audiences really having a lot of fun."

The ticket sales were good and Alex paid tribute to two of the cast for their knowledge of social media which helped make that happen, namely Brian Faichney, who played Friar Tuck, and Gary Keay, who was Herman.

He also thanked local Guides and Brownies groups for their work in helping sales along with the Unite union at Rosyth Dockyard, who sponsored the purchase of a lot of tickets.

Regularly getting good turn outs at the five shows during the week of the production is very important as it costs £16,000 a year to put a show on and the support of every person who attended was very important.

Added Alex: "The production was made possible through the work of so many people and we have to thank John Urquhart, who supplied the scenery, stage manager Sheona Goodall, Utopia for the costumes, MM Sound and Lighting and the Lochgelly Centre staff. Also Skene, of Crossgates, for allowing us to advertise on their boundary fence on the Crossgates to Cowdenbeath road, all these things are important to us.

"This year the cast chose Fife Gingerbread as the charity to benefit from the show, as they do so much throughout Fife for families, and collections taken each night raised a total of £1,100 and a sum of £218 was raised at the Lodge Thane of Fife installation evening, in Cowdenbeath for the fund, which was excellent".

Already CCT have announced that their 2020 show will be 'Rapunzel'.
