A CARDENDEN man had eight points put on his driving licence after he and another driver he was racing with were chased by police at speeds over 100mph.

Brad Peacock, 22, from Woodend Park; and Javid Aslam, 41, from Kennoway, had originally been charged by the Crown of driving dangerously at speeds in excess of 135mph on the Standing Stane Road, between Kirkcaldy and Leven, on May 2 last year.

The accused denied driving at the speed alleged and the Crown accepted their pleas of guilty to driving carelessly.

Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court heard that police in an unmarked car went after the drivers when they had heard loud exhaust noises and saw Peacock's car go through a roundabout very quickly followed by Aslam's vehicle.

An agent for car salesman Peacock said that he had a 'rush of blood to the head' as he responded to Aslam's driving that night.

Sheriff James Williamson, fined each of them £900 and imposed eight penalty points on their licences, after hearing that both drivers had currently three penalty points on their licences.

He warned them that the consequence of their driving was that they now were in a position that even any minor indiscretion could lead to them being liable to disqualification.
