THE Lindsay Miners Memorial service will take place on Friday at 7pm at Kelty Community Centre.

The service will remember the nine miners who lost their lives in the Lindsay Colliery Disaster which occurred on December 14 1957 when an underground explosion took the lives of the men.

Said Kelty Community Council's Claire Campbell: "There is a small exhibition telling the story of the Lindsay Disaster which will be inside the community centre from midweek.

"On Friday part of the event will take place inside before we go out to the statue of the miner near the entrance, where wreaths will be laid.

"We hope that there will be a good turn out from the village for what is an event which is key part of Kelty's history."
