THE £1.5m project to give growing village, Hill of Beath, a new community centre and nursery is on target to see the facility handed over to Fife Council early in the New Year.
The plans put together by the local authority were for the erection of the nursery and community centre, with associated access and parking, at the site of the old Community Centre in Main Street.
The proposals were developed after consultation with the village community and an open day in March let people see what was planned and gave them a base to comment.
Work has been progressing well during the late autumn and a council spokesperson said this week: "We would like to confirm the nursery is due for handover in January 2020".
The progress of the project has impressed local councillor Alex Campbell: "This is such a much needed facility for a village which has grown significantly in recent years.
"The new Baxterfield housing estate is continuing grow in size, and with the primary school not having sufficient space for a nursery extension a new facility was needed as was a replacement for the almost 50 years old community centre.
"Combining the two of them on the site of the old Centre is looking like a winner with the new building looking impressive.
"Hopefully it will be ready to be opened early in 2020."
