SCOTRAIL is introducing extra carriages to two Fife Circle services from next week.

Announcing the changes to the timetable from Monday, the rail operator has announced an extra 10,000 seats Scotland wide with two services affecting the Fife Circle involved.

The following key services will have more seats for customers: the 06:30 from Kirkcaldy to Edinburgh, and the 16:08 from Edinburgh to Glenrothes with Thornton, which passes through Cowdenbeath, Lochgelly and Cardenden stations.

David Simpson, ScotRail Operations Director, said: “The improvements we are making to our timetable from December will deliver even more benefits for our customers, delivering more seats".

Murdo Fraser MSP for Mid Scotland and Fife and Times columnist, has welcomed the announcement by ScotRail: “Rail passengers using the Fife Circle have seen a poor service over the past few years, especially with overcrowding of carriages, cancellations and some trains skipping stations.

“ScotRail was rightly criticised for overcrowding and cancellations so it is good to hear of this announcement. It’s definitely a move in the right direction.”

ScotRail will introduce new timetables across Scotland’s Railway from December 15.
