THE man who died in as a result of a road accident in Cardenden on Thursday is Dave McArthur, from Lochgelly.

Dave, 43, had been out shopping with his mum in Cardenden on Thursday night when he was involved in an accident with a van near the Tesco Store, in Station Road.

A crowdfunding page has been set up through his friends and one of them, Peter Kwok, said: "Dave McArthur our friend, husband to Alana and dad to two beautiful daughter,s died when he was out shopping with his mum.

"They just got a mortgage accepted for a new home before tragedy struck on Thursday. Please help if you can.

"He served his country in his army life, and in civilian life served the community by helping people with addictions. A special and lovely man. RIP our good friend".

The target is £10,000 and by Tuesday morning it was nearing £4,000.

In a statement his family said: “We are all devastated by the news, no words can describe how much we will miss him. We love you Dave.”

The police, who arrested a 41 year-old man in connection with the accident, are asking for help from the public to gain information on what happened on Thursday and Sergeant Nicola Young, of the Fife Road Policing Unit, said: "Our thoughts are very much with the man's family and all those affected by this tragic incident.

"An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision is ongoing and I urge anyone who either saw what happened, or saw the vehicle involved in the collision, to please get in touch as soon as possible.

"Dash-cam footage in particular would be extremely helpful."
