LINDA Holt, a leading member or the Mossmorran Action Group, has resigned from the Conservative Group on Fife Council and also from the party.

Linda has campaigned strongly in the Lochgelly area both airing concerns about the Little Raith wind farm and also the flaring issues at Mossmorran.

Linda said on Monday: "I have resigned my membership of the Scottish Conservative & Unionist Party because I believe I can be a more effective voice for the East Neuk and Fife as an Independent.

"My decision has been a long time coming, and reflects a growing awareness of the deep-rooted dysfunction in the party at local association, council group and Scottish levels.

"This dysfunction has not only demoralised and alienated supporters; it also prevents the party from being proactive in fighting for the interests of ordinary Fifers."

Conservative Group leader, Dave Dempsey said: “I’m disappointed that Linda has left the party and the Conservative Group on Fife Council. I wish her well in a role as a ward councillor, which is essentially what she’s been for much of the past year.

"However, I don’t in any way recognise the ‘dysfunction’ she refers to. Linda has, of her own choosing, played no part in the day to day operation of the Council Group for quite some time and is clearly unaware of what it’s doing and how well it’s doing it.”
