CHRISTMAS is gathering pace in Cowdenbeath this week with the High Street looking a picture now that the town’s festive lights are up and running.

The switch-on was a huge success with the Green Square packed to see Santa arrive from the railway station and then mingle with the families who came along to the Civic Week Committee’s evening of fun.

It was certainly a night for the children who met with Santa and also enjoyed Mr Mohawk’s entertainment!

The weather was pretty reasonable for the time of year which added to the occasion.

The lights switch-on started the Christmas package organised by the Civic Week Committee and on Saturday afternoon there will be the annual Christmas Fayre to be held at Beath High School.

There will be a whole host of stalls set up in the hall and you could find that special gift you are looking for or stocking filler. It starts at 1pm and runs for three hours.

The third part of the Christmas package comes on Sunday December 15 at Beath High School when the Christmas concert takes place starting at 6.30pm.

It will feature the Cowdenbeath Community Choir and a whole host of local contributors.
